Role Overview
The Business Development Manager will play a key role in expanding BCM Group’s footprint across Africa and the Middle East. This role is responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities in the surface mining, civil engineering, and infrastructure sectors. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of mining operations, project contracting, and regional business environments, as well as a proven track record in business development within the heavy civil or extractive industries.
This is a remote role with extensive travel required across Africa, Europe and the Middle East, and occasional travel to BCM’s Head Office in Ghana.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with BCM Group’s growth objectives.
- Identify, pursue, and secure new contracts and partnerships in surface mining, civil construction, and infrastructure projects.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with mining companies, government agencies, engineering firms, and other stakeholders.
- Lead the preparation of bids, proposals, and presentations for major projects and tenders.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify new opportunities and emerging markets.
- Work closely with operational, estimating, and finance teams to ensure competitive and compliant bids.
- Represent BCM Group at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.
- Monitor competitor activity and market trends to inform business strategies.
- Support the negotiation and execution of contracts in collaboration with legal and executive teams.
- Provide regular reporting on business development activities, pipeline, and performance metrics.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Mining, or a related field (MBA or postgraduate degree preferred).
- Minimum of 8–10 years’ experience in business development, preferably within the mining, civil construction, or infrastructure sectors.
- Proven track record of winning and managing large-scale contracts across Africa or the Middle East.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to assess project viability and risk.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Established network of industry contacts in the mining and civil works sectors.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a remote, multicultural environment.
- Willingness to travel extensively across Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
