Specialized drilling and blasting operations using primarily Atlas Copco (Coprod) and Sandvik drill rigs. Competent and licensed shotfirers carry out blasting operations using a variety of packaged and bulk explosives.

BCM has extensive experience in all types of materials from heavily oxidized to hard rock formation. BCM carries out drill and blast operations on all of its Contract Mining projects and many of the Civil Earthwork’s projects that often require detailed blasting to conform to design.

BCM has a high level of expertise and experience both in drilling in a wide variety of conditions and shot firing using various types of explosives.

BCM is committed to carrying out drill and blast in a safe and efficient manner and has proven systems in place with respect to storage, transport, loading, handling and use of explosives, which allow drilling and blasting to be undertaken in the safest possible environment.

BCM carry out drill and blast operations on most of its Mining Contracting projects and many of the Civil Contracting projects that often require more detailed blasting to conform to design.

Full Hole Service

Our service and operational teams work to deliver the full range of down the hole functions from drilling of both pre-split and production holes, conducting quality assurance and quality control on the holes drilled prior to loading with explosives, generate a tie-up proposal that minimizes ore dilution, loading of explosives, stemming of holes with the right stemming material and blast management.

Our Drill and Blast Engineers prior to the pe-blasting sign off, collates all geology, geotechnical and technical parameters of the blast and run simulation on the blast allowing us to visually determine blast fragmentation prior to firing to optimise the blast outcome.

Grade Control & Exploration Drilling

The Grade control process is highly dependent on accurate sampling and data collection and the management of this data. BCM has the right tools and personnel to drill and collect samples to avoid sample contamination for onward submission for assaying.

Without a doubt the most important function on the mine is grade control drilling that defines the configuration and boundaries of the ore and helps in estimating the grade. Without clean contaminate-free samples, a mine cannot accurately estimate the grade of the ore being mined.
