The Attarat Oil Shale Joint Venture Project in Jordan demonstrates BCM’s capability to successfully execute and sustain large-scale open pit mining operations in demanding environments. Since commencing operations in 2016, BCM has played a key role in supporting one of the region’s largest energy developments, delivering safe, efficient, and reliable mining services throughout the life of the project.
Production Performance
The project remained on track in May 2026 (NTP+110). Since project commencement, cumulative production had reached 119,560,363 BCM of overburden, 22,683,717 BCM of fresh oil shale, 4,546,085 BCM of rehandled oil shale, and 258,829 BCM of contingency stock, resulting in total production volume movement of 147,048,994 BCM. The project’s peak annual production was achieved in Contract Year 8, reaching an impressive 6.876 million BCM, highlighting the operation’s ability to sustain high-volume production throughout the life of the contract.

BCM has complemented its mining operations with a wide range of civil construction and infrastructure works essential to the mine’s development and ongoing operation. These activities included site preparation, earthworks, road construction, drainage systems, and the creation of operational platforms, along with other supporting infrastructure. Together, they highlight BCM’s integrated capability to deliver both mining and civil construction solutions within a single project environment, ensuring the mine is not only productive but also structurally and operationally sustainable.

Strategic Fleet Mobilization and International Logistics
A significant achievement during the project development phase was the successful mobilization of major mining equipment from BCM’s operations in Central Asia to Jordan. This complex international logistics exercise required meticulous planning, coordination, and execution to ensure that critical mining assets were delivered, assembled, and commissioned efficiently to support the timely commencement of operations. As part of its contribution to the joint venture, BCM also procured new Caterpillar equipment, which was shipped from Estonia, while simultaneously relocating a substantial portion of its existing fleet from Uzbekistan. The movement of this equipment involved transporting heavy mining assets across multiple countries and navigating challenging lake crossings, representing a major logistical undertaking. The successful execution of these activities not only formed a significant component of BCM’s contribution to the joint venture but also demonstrated the company’s ability to manage large-scale project start-ups, overcome complex logistical challenges, and deploy resources across multiple regions to meet client requirements and deliver projects efficiently.
